We’re at the cross section of sporting seasons; Fall sports getting underway, summer sports just wrapping up.
As an example, tonight is being dubbed as ” Puck Drop Friday ” to signify the start of the Western Junior C Hockey season.
There are 2 games this evening to launch the season; Walkerton @ Hanover & Mount Forest at Wingham both are 8 pm starts.
Also from a hockey standpoint, the Knights of Meaford play their season opener & home opener on Sunday night when they host the Alliston Coyotes at the Meaford & St Vincent Community Centre.
Meanwhile, as Summer gets down to the final week, the Elmwood Bierman’s Bar & Grill Smoke are at the Ontario Challenge Cup Softball Tournament this weekend in Ohsweken.
The Smoke who have evolved through the years and are making headway in the Bluewater League will play their first contest tomorrow morning at 11 am with the focus being to claim the championship
The winner of the tournament gains an automatic berth in the 2015 ISC World Championship in Indiana
But 2015 is a long way off, we still have to get through a crossover weekend and three seasons before the 2015 ISC Tournament arrives.
