Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
I had a great chat last week with Simon Petersen, an OSCVI student, who’s had a remarkable summer in soccer.
As a high schooler, Petersen was a key member of the Huronia District Soccer League Champion Grey Motors United of Owen Sound.
And as significant as that may be, it gets dwarfed in comparison with another soccer adventure Petersen was involved with.
Playing for Carlo Rivas Academy based in Toronto, Petersen and his mates went to Manchester City for a series of matches and an exceptional soccer experience that included taking in Premier League games & touring fabled stadiums.
Carlo Rivas went 0-2 & 1 in their matches, but Petersen returned from the junket anything but discouraged and was still bubbling about the entire experience when we talked.
Simon Petersen is back at OSCVI, likely to play Bluewater Soccer while continuing to play with Carlo Rivas Academy.
Still, in his mind, Petersen has seen first hand that there is a huge world of soccer opportunities out there, both academically and professionally.
I’m Fred Wallace
