Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
After two days of Victor Mete, it’s time to discuss other fish in the sea, in particular those in Owen Sound Harbour.
The Sydenham Sportsmen’s Club has launched their 27th annual Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular, the 2014 event commencing this morning at 1 minute after midnight and running to August 31st.
Anglers are always an optimistic bunch, but the positive trends in the sport-fish industry have them even more excited for this year’s tournament.
First, the Salmon Spectacular points to the recently concluded Chantry Chinook Classic conducted by the Lake Huron Fishing Club.
Historically, the Salmon Spectacular winners are larger in size than the Chantry Chinook Classic, so with a 25 pound trout winning the Chantry, the OSS group truly believes there’s a monster in the harbour.
Furthermore, the existing trend for the derby over the last 3 years has produced more fish, bigger fish and more participants, all of which means big days of angling are in front of us at the 27th annual Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular.
Enjoy the derby
I’m Fred Wallace
