Last weekend was launched in perfect fashion with great weather and the 19th annual Jeff Preston Celebrity Golf Classic at Saugeen Golf Club in Port Elgin.
Without question, the highlight of the day was the formal presentation of a cheque for $ 25,000 by the Port Elgin Rotary Club to Jesse’s Journey, an organization fully immersed in funding for research into Muscular Dystrophy.
The success and longevity of this tournament can be attributed to many, many factors, but the primary factor, in my view, is the on-going inspiring life of Jeff Preston of Port Elgin.
The celebrity aspect of the tournament is a draw of course.
In fact some of the celebrities have played with the same group for decades as friendships have been forged.
But amongst the golfers, celebrities or otherwise, the major appeal of the event is simply explained- Jeff Preston
Year after year, for 19 years running, Jeff has been on hand to meet, to greet, to smile and to give a living illustration that he will not be muted or stymied by MD.
The Jeff Preston Celebrity Golf Classic has always been a major success, Year 19 as successful as any, setting the stage perfectly for Year 20 in July of 2015.
