Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
These are exciting days for the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club.
The Junior entry recently won their Provincial Championship at Richmond Hill marking the first time ever the Saugeen Shores Club has claimed first in a provincial.
The results seemingly verifies that the profile of Lifeguard sports is on the rise.
The rising profile means a greater attraction for youngsters to participate and compete and the more involved-the better the training….the better the training-the better the results.
Now, when Saugeen Shores shows up at the various competitions, their reputation as contenders precedes them and the potential for growth here is unlimited.
With significant time remaining in the Summer, the Saugeen Shores Life Saving Club has a bunch of events on the schedule.
Of note, this coming weekend at the Main Beach in Port Elgin, they’ll hold their annual ” Sunset Competition ” featuring clubs from around Ontario in both Senior & Junior age categories.
Then the following weekend, there will be a mini rescue demonstration at Saugeen Shores to showcase the disciplines and skills involved for the athletes, 3 of whom have qualified for the World Championships at France later this year.
I’m Fred Wallace
