Later this week, the ISF World Junior Fastball Tournament commences in Whitehorse in the Yukon.
As we mentioned earlier in this space, Owen Sound pitcher Matt Wardrop is expected to have a prominent role on the pitching staff for the Canadian entry.
Meanwhile, another Owen Sound pitcher, in another sport, is gearing up for another significant event.
Lefthander Joe McCorkindale is a member of the Western Ontario Baseball Association entry for the Ontario Summer Games in early August.
McCorkindale admits the WOBA team will be the underdogs at the Ontario Summer Games, but having said that, he thinks the challenge will be motivating and one that can be overcome.
Meanwhile, when the summer comes to its conclusion, 14 year old Joe McCorkindale won’t be heading to OSCVI, West Hill or St Mary’s but rather he’ll be off to Stratford where he’s enrolled in the iCASE Baseball program which will allow him to combine his academics with upgraded instruction in the sport.
Joe McCorkindale relates he was keen from the get-go to attend iCASE.
His parents ? Well, they needed some convincing
