A massive fastball tournament begins tomorrow afternoon in Owen Sound and over the course of 48 hours, or less, we’ll have just one team standing.
The Ontario Amateur Softball Association Peewee Elimination Tournament begins Friday afternoon at 4 pm at Duncan McLellan Park and runs through the Championship Game on Sunday.
There will be 36, maybe 37, games through the affair with 19 teams hammering it out to determine who’s best and who goes where.
The top 2 teams will earn the right to compete at the Canada East Peewee event, while another entry has the opportunity to go to Canada West.
The OASA has to be thrilled to see the numbers here. When was the last time we had 19 teams, at any level, for a major provincial tournament ?
Furthermore, in this region, there’s 3 entries that are within 20 minutes of home plate at Duncan McLellan Park; Owen Sound, of course, plus Chatsworth & Shallow Lake.
And really, is it a huge stretch to include the Belmore & Elmvale squads as somewhat local, certainly regional ?
The first games go tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm at all 3 diamonds at Duncan McLellan.
By mid-afternoon Sunday, only 2 will remain standing at the 2014 OASA Peewee Elimination Tournament.
