A couple of lacrosse items of note today…
First, the Owen Sound Garb & Gear NorthStars play their home opener tonight in Junior B Lacrosse when they host the Orangeville Northmen.
The Stars are 1 & 3 after commencing the season in what is traditional fashion, with a glut of road games.
Owen Sound dropped their first three, losing at Welland, Six Nations & Arthur.
However, they managed to rally in the late going Sunday at Hamilton to score an exciting 8-6 victory over the Bengals and get into the win column.
Doing so again tonight against the always deep Northmen presents a steep challenge for Owen Sound, who admittedly will be underdogs for a playoff position 2 months from now.
Game time for the Garb & Gear NorthStars & Northmen is 8 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.
At the Senior level, the Quantum Properties NorthStars play their season opener Saturday night when they visit Ennismore.
Like the Junior NorthStars, the Seniors play their first three on the road before they stage their home opener on May 25th against St Catharines.
