Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
The Ontario Hockey League Playoffs begin this week and for the Owen Sound Attack they’re paired up with the……………..well we don’t know and won’t know until this evening, based on the outcome of tonight’s Soo-Saginaw game.
In a quick review of the regular season, it’s fair to say the Attack hit their stated goal of ” making the playoffs. “
True, that’s a very modest goal and with Sarnia having done as expected, in realty, the Attack needed to outlast just one team to get there.
Slice it any way you want, I liked most of what happened this season.
An exceptional run of success on the road from November 9th to the trade deadline put them in a position whereby they could alter their roster, still hit their goal, but potentially accelerate their path back to the upper echelon of the always tough Western Conference.
Again, slice this any way you want, but in terms of consistency Owen Sound was inconsistent.
Again, in fairness, what did you expect with so many inexperienced players learning the league and the game on a force fed basis ?
But goals and alterations and development and other facets are now in the past and what counts most for the Attack is how they face the challenge of facing the Otters or Greyhounds in the opening round of the Western Conference playoffs.
I’m Fred Wallace
