The planning & analysis for the 2014 National Football League season is well underway.
After Seattle smashed Denver 43-8 to win the Super Bowl on Sunday, the ” now -let’s-talk-about-next-year ” campaign started to roll.
I appreciate great marketing, and in truth, nobody does it better than the NFL who can serve up a stinker in the Championship game and then get the hype wheels in motion for the next season.
More than football ended on Sunday.
For the first time since 2006, Ontario won’t be represented by Glenn Howard at the Tim Hortons Brier.
The Howard rink playing out of the Penetanguishene Curling Club, lost to Glendale Golf & Country 6-5 in the final of the Travelers Tankard at Smiths Falls.
So the Glendale rink, under Mark Bice’s name but actually skipped by Greg Balsdon, now advances to the Brier next month in Kamloops.
And on a local note, the Steve Gregg rink from Paisley won the Chesley-Tara Insurance Major Curling League on Sunday at Owen Sound Blue Water.
Gregg defeated Al Hutchinson 10-1 in the final on Sunday to win the local Major League.
