It’s not often we talk about an upcoming council meeting in this space.
Even more rare, there’s two items of note in two different communities in our region.
First in Grey Highlands tonight, council will receive a report pertaining to the desire of the Lefroy Wave to shift their operations to Markdale for the 2014-15 Greater Metro Junior Hockey season and beyond.
If Grey Highlands council authorizes staff members to proceed with the formation of a contract then you can assume that Grey County will have two GMJHL teams; the Knights of Meaford & Markdale for next season.
Meanwhile in Owen Sound tonight, Mayor Deb Haswell & City Council will present Dennis Yurkiw & Lynda Montgomery with a city flag signed by citizens and well wishers from the region for their daughter, Larisa.
Dennis & Lynda are heading to Sochi to watch the Alpine Ski event at the Winter Olympic Games and will present the Owen Sound flag to Larisa.
How many Olympians have their been from our region ? Donalda Duprey. ….Laryssa Biesenthal…..not many.
So the hope is there will be a large turnout at council chambers tonight for the presentation at 7 pm.
Council Meetings. In this segment ! I’m not sure when it will happen again, but for tonight, these are two significant community activities.
