Highway 26 runs 113 kilometres from Owen Sound to Barrie or, if you prefer, Barrie to Owen Sound.
Regardless, if you’re anywhere along Highway 26 tonight you’re in close proximity to a good Junior Hockey game.
Heading East, the first destination is Meaford where the Orangeville Americans are in against the Knights in a Greater Metro Junior game.
Home ice hasn’t been kind to the Knights. They’ve been close, there’s been games they should have won, but the lingering tale of the Knights first year is that Crusaders of Collingwood Street could be much higher in the standings if they could manufacture points at the Castle.
Game time tonight is 7:30
Around the midway point of Highway 26, you’ll be in Stayner where the Siskins are at home in the Georgian MidOntario Junior C League as they host the league leading Penetanguishene Kings.
The Kings are 14 points up on 4th place Stayner but are coming off a 9-2 drubbing at the hands of Alliston.
Furthermore, the Siskins home record and the Kings road record are virtually identical.
Game time is 8:10 in Stayner.
Then at the end of the line, with a jog up to Mapleview Drive, the Owen Sound Attack & Barrie Colts hook up for just the third time on the OHL season in a game pivotal for both.
As for Thornbury & Collingwood, I can only assume there’s big games in those centres because after all, they’re on Highway 26.
Enjoy the games.
I’m Fred Wallace
