It’s an eventful day in an eventful week for the Owen Sound Attack & the Ontario Hockey League.
League play resumes tonight with 3 games including the match at the JD McArthur Arena as the Owen Sound Attack host the Barrie Colts.
It’s a much anticipated welcome back game for both teams as they’ll return to granting big ice time to their prime time defenders.
Both Aaron Ekblad of the Colts & Chris Bigras of the Attack are expected to suit up for their club teams tonight after representing Canada at the World Junior Championship tournament in Sweden.
True, the final results weren’t what anybody dreamed of or desired for Canada, and also true, the experience for both players would be a large contrast, with Ekblad logging monster ice time whereas Bigras was relegated to part time status at best.
Be that as it may, both players did their best, and the potential exists that they’ll both have the opportunity to upgrade their experiences a year from now.
Is there disappointment with a 4th place finish ? Certainly. No question.
Is it a disaster- back to back years without a medal for Canada ? Not in my view.
A tournament that can have 5 different champions in the last 6 years is great for the event going forward, as far as I’m concerned, and if the Swiss, the Czechs, the Slovaks and Germans improve, man, what a tournament for years ahead.
