Canada’s pool of players for the Pan American Softball Championships next year, doesn’t include anyone from Owen Sound or from the region.
However, looking at the list of players. I’d say more than 80 percent of those players in the pool have played at Duncan McLellan Park either for the Selects or, in most cases, played in one of the National Championships hosted here.
The city and the various fastball factions, by my count, have hosted two Men’s Nationals and 4 Junior Men’s Championships since the turn of the century, therefore a lot of the names in the talent pool are familiar
The Senior Mens National Team will compete at the Pan American Championship October 25th to November 2nd in Parana, Argentina.
This Championship will serve as a qualifier for the 2015 International Softball Federation Mens World Championship which will be held in 2015 at Saskatoon, which for the hosting body is a major event for Softball Canada.
Looking ahead to the fastball season, there are no National Championships destined for Owen Sound.
But looking at Canada’s talent pool roster, it’s easy to find a large number of players in that pool who have made a significant impression on Softball Canada while playing at Duncan McLellan Park.
