We’re in the middle of a pretty significant week for sports in the region.
Of course starting Friday and running through the weekend, the annual Port Elgin Superspiel is set to go.
The Port Elgin Curling Club and the town should be buzzing for the entire weekend with the 2013 edition of Superspiel.
Plus at the high school level, we’re approaching the climaxes for Bluewater Sports.
Already this week, the Girls basketball Playoffs and the Boys Volleyball playoffs have started and heading towards their respective championships.
Plus, Friday afternoon at Port Elgin, the Bluewater Football Championship will be conducted.
The OSCVI Falcons will meet the Saugeen District Royals for the 2013 Football title.
And let’s be honest, the Falcons aren’t being given a prayer in this game as they are the longest of longshots.
And that’s to the credit of the Royals who went 4 & 0 in the regular season and eliminated Grey Highlands last weekend in the semifinal.
The bigger question for OSCVI will be, ‘ can they score ‘ ? Saugeen Shores has not given up a point all season and that includes a whitewashing of the Falcons just two weeks ago.
The winner Friday will advance to the CWOSSA semifinals.
Game time for the Bluewater Final Friday afternoon is 2 pm.
