Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
Among the sporting stops this weekend will be the third annual Meaford Coyotes Cross Meet at Georgian Bay Secondary School.
The Coyotes who are enjoying a significant upswing in club growth host this annual meet for elementary school runners.
The event originated when the long running Flesherton Split Rail Festival and race concluded, and the Coyotes stepped up and shifted the proceedings to Meaford, primarily to keep kids active.
The races tomorrow will be conducted at Georgian Bay Secondary School and unlike traditional cross country races were everybody disappears into the woods for half an hour, the runners at GBSS will remain in view virtually throughout the race.
The first run tomorrow is a 9 am start.
There’s other significant sporting stops tomorrow; the Attack host Kitchener in the OHL and the Shallow Lake Crushers play their Senior Hockey home opener when they host long time rival, the Ripley Wolves.
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
