With Tampa Bay winning the American League Wild Card Game last night, that means the Rays , Boston, Detroit and Oakland are in the American League semifinals.
The final 4 in the National League are Atlanta, the Dodgers, St Louis and the wild card winning Pittsburgh Pirates.
Naturally, everyone looks ahead to try and project who the 2013 World Series winners will be.
Us ? We’re going to look back and see what the oddsmakers said back in April about odds to win the World Series.
In the American League, Tampa Bay was 16 to 1, the Tigers were 8-1, and both the Red Sox & the A’s were posted at 30 to 1.
From a National League standpoint, the Dodgers were 9-1 in April, the Braves were 16 to 1, the Cardinals 18- 1 and the wild card winners from Pittsburgh were listed at 66 to 1.
Therefore, if you bet $ 10 in April on every Major League team, you’d win big if the Pirates win the World Series and break even on Boston or Oakland winning.
