Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
We’re a day or so ahead here, but it could be a big weekend for two athletes from the Saugeen Track & Field Club.
Both Kelly Gribbons and Alex Morrow are in line for awards from Athletics Ontario.
Gribbons is nominated in the Junior Girls Throw Division while Morrow is up for honours in the Youth Girls Combined events.
Gribbons and Morrow have both gravitated from club to provincial to national and even international competition in the past year, as Gribbons was in Colombia for the Pan Am Junior Games while Morrow competed in the Ukraine at the World Youth games.
From Saugeen Shores to the far corners of the world, that’s impressive for both the athletes and for the club which is far from large.
It won’t be known until the weekend whether the two Saugeen athletes will win their respective awards, and their futures in track & field are also uncertain, essentially products of their own making.
But for the moment, Kelly Gribbons and Alex Morrow of the Saugeen Track & Field Club have put themselves into solid positions to be considered for provincial honors.
I’m Fred Wallace
