Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
I’ve been away for the past two weeks, caught in an interesting spectrum of intense activity at the Canadian Junior Men’s Fastball Championship at one end, and in doing virtually nothing the following week in Simcoe County.
I did see Larry the Cable Guy @ Rama, but that hardly qualifies as ” work “.
When I’m away, because I’m a professional, or because they make me do it, your choice, I leave a daily comment, recorded in advance and then aired on a specified day.
When I came back, I had interesting responses to a couple of those ” fillers “.
First, I was talking about the Dock Lunch in Penetanguishene last week and their wide array of community sports photos & memorabilia.
Waxy Gregoire, who was both a great outfielder for the old Midland Indians and later an accomplished trainer for the Penetanguishene Kings, saw the comment and sent me an invitation for one and all to visit the Penetanguishene Sports Hall of Fame who will have their next induction night on October 26th.
I also did a piece on ” Crossing the Line “, the Derek Sanderson book assisted by Kevin Shea.
Wouldn’t you know it, Shea, whose family roots are at Markdale happened to be passing through the region and saw the posting on our website and sent along a nice note.
If I’d have stayed away longer, I might have enough responses and topics to get me to Labour Day.
I’m Fred Wallace
