Golf fans are still buzzing about the British Open and Phil Mickelson’s final round on Sunday.
There are few things better for the sport than a prominent name winning a major in such a terrific turn of events like the Mickelson win at Muirfield.
While we’re talking golf, the Grey Bruce Junior Tour had a stop yesterday at Saugeen Golf Club as the tour winds towards the seasonal climax next month.
Kingsley Foris won the stop with a 74 while the other divisional winners were Sane Vollmer of Ainsdale and Pike Lake’s Luke Cowen
And speaking of Saugeen, it’s always a terrific host for the annual Jeff Preston Celebrity Golf Tournament.
The 18th annual event was staged last Friday and while there were many stable features, this year marked the first time the new clubhouse facility hosted the tournament banquet.
Suffice it to say, Saugeen got their money’s worth with this facility.
And on the topic of money, another $ 25,000 was generated by the Port Elgin Rotary Club for Muscular Dystrophy Research, a total that will swell with matching grants and donations.
From Muirfield to Saugeen, it was a great weekend for golf.
