The Ontario victory at the International Under 21 Men’s Fastball Tournament in Saskatoon last week leads nicely towards the upcoming Canadian Junior Championship tournament in Owen Sound- especially from a Wiarton standpoint.
Ontario defeated New Zealand 9-3 in Saskatoon Sunday to claim the U21 crown.
The victory was highlighted by a pair of home runs; one from Travis Jones, the other, an inside-the-park job from Ty Sebastian.
The offense backed up a winning performance in the pitching circle by Michael Legace Roote.
Jones, Sebastian & Legace Roote are all members of the Wiarton Red Devils who recently won the O.A.S.A qualifying tournament in Owen Sound and as such are the # 1 Ontario seed for the Canadian Junior Championship Tournament.
That tournament will be hosted by the Keady Jets August 5th to 11th, again at Duncan McLellan Park.
With their Elimination Tournament win in Owen Sound and the victorious display at the International Under 21 tournament, the stars seem to be aligning for the Wiarton Red Devils for the National Junior Championship Tournament which begins in 19 days.
