Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
It’s always a great day for golf, at every level.
At the elite level, Kincardine native Taylor Schmidt is playing today at one of 18 regional qualifiers hoping to play her way into the US Women’s Amateur at Charleston next month.
Schmidt was back home last week and will return to Lake Huron after the qualifier for a couple of significant tournaments in Ontario and Quebec in the month ahead.
First up will be the Ontario Women’s Amateur at Etobicoke in mid July played at the Markland Wood Golf Club.
Schmidt will also compete at the Royale Cup, the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship in Quebec later this month.
Along the way, Schmidt may come to answer pertaining to her career path. Then again, maybe not.
There’s no timetable set for her to choose whether she will chase or abandon pro golf.
For the time being, Taylor Schmidt is content to play top flyte golf and pursue her masters with an eye on coaching in the NCAA at Oklahoma.
It’s always a great day for golf.
I’m Fred Wallace
