Almost every hour I seem to get an update on athlete from the city or the region who is off to a remarkable experience of one sort or another.
What’s most remarkable is the rich variety of sporting opportunities now exist.
First, the OFSAA Track & Field Championships begin Thursday and run through Saturday at Oshawa.
I spoke to Kelly Gribbons of Saugeen District about the throwing events, and while she wouldn’t make the claim, those who know the event insist she’s a solid favorite to win at least one gold, maybe more.
The interview with Kelly is on our web site at www.bayshorebroadcasting.ca
Also on our web site is an interview with Austin Ryan of OSCVI.
Ryan, who golfs out of Stone Tree Golf and Fitness was the low regional qualifier for the Ontario Men’s Amateur Golf Championship.
Amazingly, Ryan admits the Ontario Amateur isn’t the biggest event he’s entered in this Summer.
And finally, goaltender Shea Tiley who played for the West Hill Lady Raiders among other hockey teams, departs this week for the Hockey Canada Under 18 Women’s Goalie Camp.
With a good showing, Tiley will advance to the next stage in the Under 18 National process at Ottawa in August.
Lots of opportunities on very big stages for some high school athletes in our region.
