The start of the 2013 Golf season couldn’t have been much better in these parts.
The weather was terrific, the fairways and greens dried nicely from the winter giving everyone connected with golf a decent running start.
Among those quickly off the mark was the GFG ( Golf For Green ) Amateur Golf Tour which utilizes a large variety of courses in Grey & Bruce County.
The concept probably has been floated by many people for many years; have a local tour for local golfers using local courses.
Fred Clendenning of Decisive Sports Marketing & Promotions turned the vision into reality, and while there have been some major positives and some areas to address, he’s very enthused about the start of the golf season and the beginning of the GFG Tour.
Whether you’re an exceptional golfer or a total hacker, there’s room for everyone using the handicap system in place on the tour and for the golfer who’d like to try their game in a non-mulligan environment, the GFG Tour is a terrific opportunity right in our own backyard.
