It’s Springtime and among the surest signs of the season is the annual Georgian Triangle Spring Trout Derby.
The annual derby is conducted by the Georgian Triangle Anglers Association and benefits many inside and outside of the region.
From an anglers standpoint, there’s more than $ 6,000 in cash up for grabs plus additional prizes that have been donated for the event which starts Saturday & runs until May 4th.
And while it’s conceivable that every dollar and every prize could be won by anglers outside of the Triangle, there are still immense benefits to the region.
Economic spinoff is an obvious benefit. especially if weather and fishing conditions are good.
And furthermore, the Anglers Association uses this event as a major fundraiser for a variety of projects including their hatchery, the river bank restoration project and the desire to install aquariums in local schools so students can take ownership in hatching trout eggs and allowing the fish to grow until capable of being released.
It’s Spring. And among the places that’s obvious is the Georgian Triangle with the annual Spring Trout Derby.
