Sometimes when you’re in the spotlight, there’s not enough time to fully enjoy it.
Such was the case recently with the Grey Bruce Scandinave Highlander Peewees who were introduced prior to an Attack playoff game one night.
Among their accomplishments on the season, the Highlander Peewees won the Kitchener Blueline Tournament, the Quinte Red Devils Tournament & the Burlington Horseshoe Tournament
As significant as those victories were, of greater significance, the Peewees advanced to the Gold Medal Game in the OMHA Championship Tournament at Bomanville, before losing to the York-Simcoe Express in the Championship Final.
The trip to the Gold medal game at the O.M.H.A. Championship Tournament was a first for the Highlanders organization and bodes very well both for the organization and for this group of players.
While not a hard & fast trend, generally the Highlanders players need a period of adjustment in the early years before evolving into strong competitors at ” AAA “.
The Scandinave Peewees with a Silver medal at the OMHA Championships illustrate the curve can be conquered quicker.
