A winter weekend in these parts means one of two things; 1) you’re either locked down from the elements or 2) you’ve got a million things on the go……
Among those with significant events ahead are swimmers from the Owen Sound Aquatic Club.
Over the course of the next three weekends, 5 swimmers from the club will compete in a variety of major competitions.
Starting this weekend, Andrew Beaton-Williamson will compete at the Eastern Canadian Age Group Nationals.
At the recent Huronia Short Course Meet in Barrie, Beaton-Williamson posted a second in the 400 metre freestyle, a third in the 100 butterfly and the 200 individual medley, plus fourth place finishes in both the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle.
Next weekend, James Boulter will race at the Ontario Winter Festival for swimmers 13 years of age and under.
And then in two weekends time, Beaton-Williamson and 3 teammates; Thomas Brown, Issac Owen & Austin Hatcher will be competing at the Provincial Championships.
The accomplishments of these Aquatic Club members have allowed them to stroke their way into elite swim meets. Their next challenge will be to measure where they belong on the Provincial and Regional level.
