It’s Showtime.
The fates of the Guelph Storm and the Owen Sound Attack won’t be decided in the next three days, but what happens tonight in Owen Sound and Friday at Guelph will be significant factors.
The Attack & Storm go home & home. Again.
The last time the two teams had a head to head sequence January 25th and 26th, the Storm swept the weekend.
Going into that weekend, Owen Sound had a chance to jettison Guelph out of contention. But it was the Storm who scored 2-1 and 5-0 victories pulled to within 3 points of the Attack rather than buried 11 points in arrears.
Same scenario in front of us less than 3 weeks later.
Another Guelph sweep and they pull to within 1 of Owen Sound for 4th in the Conference, and also hold a game in hand.
By comparison, the Attack have designs on third in the Conference and a sweep of Guelph could allow them to bypass Kitchener for third but more importantly put Guelph in the rearview mirror.
To the Storm’s credit, they’ve won 4 straight against Owen Sound and in those four games, Garrett Sparks has gone shutout-1 goal against- 1 goal against- shutout.
Four games. Two goals against.
Yes, the scenario for Guelph & Owen Sound is the same once again. The Attack certainly need a different outcome.
Game time tonight for the opener 7 pm.
