Hi, this is Fred Wallace with ” Off the Wire “, brought to you by Hal Wright Chevrolet-Cadillac-GMC-Buick on the Sunset Strip in Owen Sound.
After two days of cross country meets, we’re back to the Ontario Hockey League tonight with the Owen Sound Attack in London to meet the Knights in a Midwest Division matchup.
To use a running term, the Knights are a country mile, likely much further, ahead of the Attack when it comes to head to head encounters.
Historically, the Knights have won 85 times against Owen Sound..
…Or put another way, Owen Sound would have to win their next 44 games in a row against London to draw even in the historical series.
A good portion of the numbers in London’s favour have been compiled over the last decade with the Hunters at the helm in London.
Sure there have been some close games, but almost always the same (predictable) result.
For example, dating back to December of 2003, the teams have gone to overtime or a shootout on 17 occasions…..the Knights have won 16 of those 17 games in extra time.
On a shorter term, in the last 3 years & change, London has won 18 of 19 games head to head including 10 STRAIGHT in Owen Sound.
In fact, the Knights haven’t lost in Owen Sound since the game they accused Attack fans of flattening the tires on the London team bus in the Bayshore Parking lot.
Since then, the winning air has virtually vanished for the Attack who take another crack at the Knights in London this evening.
I’m Fred Wallace
