So there’s no Attack game this Saturday night and one wonders where a hockey fan might get a fix.
Here’s an interesting alternative, and a little off the normal tract for this segment, but let me suggest…..Chesley.
Saturday afternoon at 3:15 pm in the Chesley Arena, the Grey Bruce Stephens Equipment Highlander Minor Midgets will face the Oakville Rangers in a South Central ” AAA ” contest.
I don’t follow Minor Hockey a great deal, but every week I get a ranking for the OHL Cup, the showcase event for Minor Midget players each March, and week after week this year, the Oakville Rangers have been the # 2 ranked team behind only Compuware out of Michigan
Checking with Ontario Hockey League scouts, the Rangers have a half dozen elite prospects worth viewing, the majority on the blueline or in goal
Adrian Hockstetler-Clark tends goal for Oakville while the blue line boasts Troy Henley, Mathew Spencer and Kyle Capobianco.
Up front, the top OHL Priority Selection candidates from Oakville are Brett McKenzie and, in some eyes, Adam Craievich.
Here’s the interesting part; the best player in the game might be on the Highlanders- defenceman Garrett McFadden out of Kincardine.
Different scouts and different GM’s have different views; some rating McFadden as a sure-fire first rounder, others saying he’s somewhere in the Top 30.
But really, with no OHL game here Saturday, why not try Chesley on a Saturday afternoon for a future look at the OHL.
