It’s Championship Friday in a Championship week of sport in the Bluewater Athletic Association.
Yesterday, OSCVI hosted the Bluewater Senior Boys and Junior Boys Volleyball Championships. The Falcons won the Senior title while the Junior Championship was won by the Saugeen District Royals.
Today, three more regional titles will be decided; two in Girls Basketball and the other in Football.
The Bluewater Junior & Senior Girls Basketball event is being contested at Kincardine District Secondary School.
Meanwhile, the 2013 Bluewater Football game is at Saugeen District in Port Elgin where the Royals have home field against the OSCVI Falcons in the Championship Final.
Bluewater Athletics, like other similar bodies around the province, have operated under a cloud of uncertainty this season, but to the credit of those who hung in there, this week has been eventful and will likely be every bit as educational as any course or classroom instruction.
Elsewhere of note tonight, the Owen Sound Attack go off to Brampton to meet the Battalion.
With Brampton’s intention to re-locate to North Bay next season, this will be Owen Sound’s final trip to the bunker to face the Battalion- unless they happen to meet in the OHL Final.
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
