I touched on it yesterday, but we’ll elaborate today on the annual Harry Kazarian Memorial Minor Lacrosse Tournament.
Is there a better example of an event linking yesterday with today and tomorrow ? Could be, but still this tournament has it all.
Harry Kazarian was an exceptional athlete winning Canadian Championships in hockey and lacrosse with Owen Sound teams more than 60 years ago.
His name was prominent, almost 40 years later when the local Minor Lacrosse organization, altered the name of the existing tournament to honor his legacy.
More than 2 decades later this tournament continues to function and thrive, attracting close to 40 teams, and dealing with a handful of other teams who would like to be admitted at the last minute.
And can this tournament continue to function and operate well into the future ?
There’s no reason to think otherwise.
Seven divisions, 4 municipalities, 5 venues, hundreds of kids, double the number of parents, all descending on Owen Sound and area for two to 3 days depending on the success of their respective teams.
That’s an impressive stretch of time from Harry Kazarian to the ongoing Harry Kazarian Memorial Minor Lacrosse Tournament
