Take your pick of weekend sports action, there’s likely something for everyone.
Of note, the Owen Sound Quantum Properties NorthStars finally come home for their home opener in Senior Lacrosse tomorrow night when they host Norwood at the JD McArthur Arena.
Owen Sound is 2-2 & 1 to this point on the year, having played all 5 games on the road to start the season.
The Junior B NorthStars are at Elora tonight and then home to Hamilton Sunday afternoon.
Elsewhere, there’s a great deal of interest in a horse owned by Tony Lawrence of Hanover and Graham Hopkins of Chesley.
” Secretsoftheknight ” will race tomorrow night at Georgian Downs near Barrie in the Upper Canada Cup Final.
” Secretsoftheknight ” won it’s elimination race last weekend to qualify for the final, but will really have to dangle tomorrow since it drew the # 9 starting position, the worst spot out of the gate.
If ” Secretsoftheknight ” can overcome the starting position and go on to score the victory it will pocket $ 300,000 for the ownership group and trainer Greg McNair. a Walkerton native who spotted the horse at sale some time ago and convinced Lawrence and Hopkins to purchase it.
A $ 600,000 purse with half the pot going to the winner. You may have a great weekend, but it might not match up to Tony Lawrence and Graham Hopkins if ” Secretsoftheknight ” scores the victory tomorrow at Georgian Downs
