We’ve got ourselves a pretty busy weekend in front of us.
Among the early highlights of the weekend is the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
There are just under a dozen new entries to be inducted tonight and I can tell you having been at most of these dating back to the late 80’s, it’s always a significant night, both looking back and looking forward.
The festivities start late afternoon, early evening, followed by dinner and then the formal induction portion of the program.
We’ll see you there.
We’ll also see you Saturday night at Hanover Raceway.
Last week, on the opening night of the season, I thought the whole night went amazingly smooth, which is a good harbinger of things to come.
The auto racing tracks don’t open this weekend, but they’re getting close.
Sauble Speedway has Open testing while Varney Speedway Motorplex has a Tech & Tune Saturday.
And then Sunday, the 2012 York Region Soccer League commences with Owen Sound Grey Motors United travelling to Alliston to face Arsenal.
Through one twist or another, the Owen Sound lineup has become quite international in makeup. At any given time this year, Owen Sound could field a contingent that includes players from England, Poland and Cameroon.
The home opener for Grey Motors is May 24th.
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
