The Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, or as I call it, ” Rig-Fest “, is set for Saturday.
The Owen Sound Attack are picking 8th overall.
They know at least 5 names will be gone before they get to make their first selection.
Will Owen Sound get the player they want in the first round ?
Let me re-phrase that. Will Owen Sound get the player they want the most in the first round ?
Likely not.
The Attack brass never shows their cards, but reading between the lines, the image I get is that Owen Sound really wants a top flyte defenceman in the first round.
Roland McKeown will be long gone before Owen Sound selects at # 8, and with both Guelph and Oshawa thought to be leaning towards defenders, the Attack may have to alter their wish list and go up front and select a forward with their pick.
So if McKeown and Middleton, both defenceman, are gone, and I expect they will be, plus forwards McDavid, Cornel, McCann and HoSang have virtually been asked to dance already, that leaves Owen Sound looking at the potential of drafting one of 2 choices.
Alphabetically, they are;, Michael Dal Colle or Robert Fabbri.
Keep in mind, none of this is set in stone.
What if Soo selects Fabbri, which has been suggested ? Maybe Owen Sound will get a defender.
But to me, it looks like a forward, Dal Colle or Fabbri will be Owen Sound bound on Draft Day.
