It’s a great time of the year with the Junior C League Finals set to commence; tonight in the Georgian MidOntario Junior C League and then tomorrow night in the Western Junior C Hockey League.
The Georgian MidOntario Junior C Championship series will pit the Stayner Siskins against the Alliston Hornets while the Western Junior C Championship is an ” all Hawk ” affair as the Walkerton Hawks meet the Mitchell Hawks.
The respective league finals are both cases of the regular season seedings holding up.
In the case of the Siskins-Hornets final, Stayner comes in as the regular season champions after a 66 point campaign, but Stayner accumulated just 2 points more than Alliston.
In the playoffs, the Siskins have completed back to back sweeps, while Alliston needed 6 games to eliminate Penetanguishene.
Game 1 for the Hornets and Siskins is tonight at 8:30 in Stayner.
It’s a similar story in the West, where Walkerton won the regular season title aided by a blazing start, finishing with 58 points, 8 more than second place Mitchell.
Walkerton has gone 8 & 1 in the post season, their only loss coming on a major third period rally by Wingham, while Mitchell had a first round bye and needed 6 games to eliminate Hanover
Game 1 in the all Hawks Western Final is tomorrow night at 8:30 in Walkerton
