The Wednesday night series of Ontario Hockey League games for the Owen Sound Attack continues tonight
In a span of 5 weeks beginning back on February 8th, the Attack will play 4 Wednesday night games.
The third game in that sequence is tonight when the Barrie Colts come to town in what is a great matchup for both teams.
The Attack and the Colts are in separate conferences in the OHL, but based on geography they meet 6 times a season, and the next two meetings, tonight and next Wednesday at the JD McArthur Arena give both teams the opportunity to advance at the expense of the other
In the East, the Colts are 4th in the Conference standings with 72 points, just 1 point back of the Brampton Battalion.
Meanwhile in the Western Conference, the Attack are 5th, 2 points back of Sarnia, but very mindful of the Saginaw Spirit lurking behind them.
Both teams have plenty of head to head motivation heading into the game
The Colts won the last outing December 8th at Barrie by a 5-3 count, that victory ending a 10 game Attack win streak head to head against Barrie
But in Owen Sound, you won’t find the Attack gloating about that streak, since even with the 10 straight victories, Barrie holds the head to head historical lead by a wide margin.
Those stats are ancient history and may be meaningless as they pertain to tonight;s match, but the Colts and Attack tonight, and again next Wednesday in Owen Sound, are significant matches for both teams in their respective conferences.
Game time tonight is 7 pm
I’m Fred Wallace
