It’s the only game in the Ontario Hockey League tonight, therefore, it is by the process of elimination, the biggest game in the OHL tonight.
But make no mistake, even if there was a full slate of games this evening, the matchup in Owen Sound carries significant weight.
The Attack are at home to the Sarnia Sting in a Western Conference showdown with 4th place on the line.
The Sting, dealing with a large number of injuries come into Owen Sound in 4th with 64 points, 1 more than the Attack.
Sarnia is coming off a convincing victory over the conference leading London Knights on Family Day
The Attack got back to work yesterday after an off day Monday following a swing through Michigan and the West Division in which they won 2 out of 3, but had their 6 game win streak snapped at Saginaw.
Which brings us to the significant portion of the matchup.
The eventual 4th place finisher, likely to be either Sarnia, the Attack or Saginaw will have home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs against the 5th place team; most likely against either Sarnia, the Attack or Saginaw.
It’s also highly probable that either Sarnia, the Attack or Saginaw will finish 6th, which would align them with the Kitchener Rangers in the first round with the Rangers having home ice advantage.
With less than a dozen games to go in the season, the Sting-Attack game tonight at 7 in the Harry Lumley-Bayshore, is without question, the biggest game in the OHL tonight
