Quite a sequence of days and events we have in front of us.
First, let’s start with the 30th annual Port Elgin Super Spiel.
There’s 16 rinks competing at the 2012 Superspiel with top prize being a fat cheque for 5 grand.
Good luck to the teams competing this weekend and we look forward to breaking news from the Port Elgin Club as it pertains to Superspiel- my guess is a change in dates for Superspiel 31.
One other curling note before we go, the Region 3 Best Western Intermediate Men’s & Women’s playdown is at Markdale Golf
The Al Hutchinson rink from Owen Sound Blue Water is in the men’s field
From a hockey standpoint, the Attack have another ” here’s-how-we-stack-up-against-the-elite ” game tonight when they open a home & home with the Knights in London.
The rematch is tomorrow night at the JD McArthur Arena.
In fairness, the biggest game in local hockey might be the Greys match tonight against Waterloo.
Owen Sound is trying desperately to catch Kitchener for the final playoff spot, so we wish them luck tonight. Game time is 7:30 at the Lum.
And finally, all the best to the Meaford Skating Club who are staging the annual ” Ice Dreams ” event for the Central Ontario Section.
The two day skating competition begins tomorrow morning 9 am and continues into Sunday again starting at 9am at the Meaford-St Vincent Community Centre.
Have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
