The last day of November is a busy one here in Owen Sound with significant events from sun up til late in the evening.
Canada AM hits the city, the Kraft Assists Program climaxes with a nice cheque presentation for the Salvation Army and then we cap the day & night, as the Owen Sound Attack host the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League.
The Colts aren’t in the Midwest Division, but from my perspective, they may as well be, as they have 6 games annually head to head with the Attack as one of our closest geographic rivals.
Owen Sound is on very good run against Barrie having won 9 in a row head to head with the Colts dating back to December 2009.
Keeping that streak alive is a much more daunting challenge this year than last as the Colts came off a rare miserable season a year ago to become a contender again in the East.
Going into the game tonight, Barrie is 6th in the Eastern Conference, but a win tonight against the Attack would allow Barrie to jump into a tie for the lead in the Central Division and share the # 2 spot.
The Attack are 5th in the Western Conference trying to bridge a 5 point gap for third while at the same time trying hold off 3 others on their tail.
It’s a big day in Owen Sound, hopefully climaxed by a big win tonight
I’m Fred Wallace
