The Subway Super Series concludes the Ontario leg tonight with a game at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste Marie as the touring Russians go against the OHL stars.
The Owen Sound Attack will be well represented at the game with both Daniel Catenacci & Matt Petgrave in the lineup.
For Catenacci, this will be an interesting night as he returns to the site of his first OHL club, the Sault Greyhounds, a club he asked to be dealt from during the off season.
Nobody much has come out and offered a definitive explanation as to why the request was made by Catenacci or the factors that led to the decision, but there are all sorts of unconfirmed issues that get floated.
Truthfully, it’s in the past- the Greyhounds have moved on nicely and Catenacci seems very settled in Owen Sound and the issue in front of him and Petgrave is the game tonight
I’m no scout nor General Manager, but based on what I see, it appears both of the Attack participants would be longshots to get an invite to the next phase which is the Hockey Canada Junior Evaluation Camp.
Having said that, we’re not that far removed from a standout one-game performance by Attack forward Wayne Simmonds that opened some eyes and created a ton of opportunities for him with the Junior team and into the NHL.
So good luck to Petter & the Cat tonight at Sault Ste Marie
I’m Fred Wallace
