The Owen Sound Attack begin a stretch of 3 games in 3 nights this evening when they visit the Petes in Peterborough.
That game will be followed by a divisional home & home with the Kitchener Rangers, with the Rangers, naturally, having home ice for the opener tomorrow night followed by the rematch back in Owen Sound Saturday night.
Do we really know what we have with the Attack ?
Coach Greg Ireland endorses the 10 game measuring stick and tonight Owen Sound hits the 10 game mark, sitting with a record of 5 & 4.
A win tonight on the road against a much improved Peterborough squad, makes it 6 & 4. A loss, obviously equals a .500 start.
There have been games in the opening segment where the Attack have looked exceptionally fast and formidable.
By the same token, the lone victories on the season for both Saginaw & Erie were accomplished against the Attack, which is curious and will prevent the Owen Sound squad from posting a dazzling start.
Add to the mystery of the new season the return of overage netminder Scott Stajcer.
What does the team do with Stajcer, whose return impacts both the overage and the goaltending picture ? Keep him, or, more likely, deal him ? And when ?
Attack at Peterborough tonight for Game 10 of their Ontario Hockey League season.
I’m Fred Wallace
