We’re hoping for good weather for the next few days in order to create good competitive conditions for a variety of outdoor activities.
Among the key events ahead are a sequence of cross country meets in our region at both the elementary and secondary school level.
The first event goes tomorrow near Paisley as the annual Bluewater West Elementary Cross Country Meet is staged at Saugeen Bluffs.
The meet is dedicated to the memory of Bob Atkinson, a Canadian War veteran, a proud member of the Royal Canadian legion at Paisley and a guy who showed up, rain or shine, to present awards and medals at the meet year after year.
The Bluewater East Elementary Meet is set for the Land Forces Central Area Training Centre at Meaford.
Meanwhile at the high school level, the OSCVI is hosting their invitational cross country meet Friday at the Sawmill Trails in Hepworth.
The race on Friday will serve as a terrific primer for the runners who will return one week later on Friday the 21st for the Bluewater Championship on essentially the same course at Hepworth.
Here’s hoping for good weather & fast times.
I’m Fred Wallace
