This very well could be the fulcrum weekend of the local sports season.
It seems you’re either wrapping up, or you’re just getting started, depending on your sport.
Wrapping up this weekend are at least two leagues we follow with interest.
The Bluewater Fastball League Championship Tournament begins tonight at 7 in Chepstow and runs through the weekend.
There are 4 games tonight starting at 7 pm and the action to crown the 2011 Champion runs through Sunday.
Meanwhile on Sunday in Alliston, it’s Collingwood against Newmarket for soccer supremacy in both divisions of the York Region Soccer League.
Collingwood United meets the Newmarket Rangers for the Premier Division title, while Collingwood’s Division One squad faces the Newmarket Lions for that title.
Varney Speedway has an auto racing card tomorrow, but Sauble Speedway and the horses at Hanover Raceway have called it a day.
Meanwhile, the Junior Hockey season in these parts commence tonight.
The Owen Sound Greys host the Elmira Sugar Kings in Midwestern Junior Hockey play tonight at the J.D. McArthur Arena
And in the Western Junior C League, they open tonight with Goderich at Walkerton & Mount Forest at Wingham
Wrapping up or just getting started, have a great weekend.
I’m Fred Wallace
