The 10th annual Dream of Glory last Saturday night at Hanover Raceway had a number of things going for it; great weather, big crowd, and a huge betting handle, just $ 1 shy of $ 50,000.
The Dream of Glory Final however, lacked drama, with no fault to the winner ” Traverse Seelster ” and driver Doug Brown.
” Traverse Seelster ” showed why it was the morning favorite, grabbing the lead by the quarter pole and then making it look easy cruising to a 3 length victory and claiming half the $ 100,000 purse.
Which brings us tonight.
The card after Dream of Glory at Hanover can be anticlimactic, and it’s understandable after building & building towards the biggest race of the year with the biggest purse in front of the biggest crowd each year.
Yet to Hanover Raceway’s credit, they’ve put together a solid card tonight highlighted by two Future Stars Final where purse money is listed at $ 21,000 plus.
In the 2 year old Colts & Gelding Final, race 6 on the evening, ” Instant Thrill ” is the 2 to 1 favorite
Meanwhile in the 9th, the 2 year old Future Stars Fillie final is set with ” Windmachine ” installed as the 2 to 1 favorite.
The Baillargeon Family drives and trains both favorites.
The Future Stars tonight won’t have the same purse, nor the same level of fan base, but there’s a very real chance tonight’s races will be more closer than the Dream of Glory romp by ” Traverse Seelster ” Saturday.
