Game 2 of the Ontario Hockey League Championship for the Robertson Cup is tonight at 7 in Owen Sound at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center.
The Western Conference Champion Owen Sound Attack trail the St Mike’s Majors 1 game to none in the best of 7.
The Eastern Conference Champion Majors were full marks for the opening game victory.
One, the Majors effort is non-stop, and while some of the goals weren’t artistic in nature, they were the by-product of hard work.
Plus, if Owen Sound blundered, failed to move a puck, turned one over, St Mike’s capitalized, and thus have a 1-0 lead in the Championship.
However, if Game 1 is the standard by which the series will be played, I like Owen Sound’s chances over 7 games.
While still the underdog in the matchup, I saw several stretches were the Attack were the better team, pressuring St Mike’s and generating scoring opportunities and narrow misses.
Knowing the Attack brass, I don’t doubt for a second they’re unhappy with the performance and the result of Tuesday night.
That’s their nature.
And I also know coaches Reeds & Virtue have addressed every aspect of Game 1 and Owen Sound will be prepared again and motivated further for Game 2 tonight.
I’m Fred Wallace
