As the new Owen Sound Rec Center Complex continue to rise on the east side of the city, so too does the excitement level from the Owen Sound Aquatic Club.
With each passing day, maybe with each passing hour, the number of options and potential opportunities for the club with the new pool facility continue to grow.
Without question the most significant development will be that the Owen Sound Aquatic Club can host their own meet, right here in Owen Sound.
For years and years and years and years, maybe longer, the Owen Sound club hosted a meet, but did so in Guelph at the University Pool there.
Through strong support inside and outside of the club, that meet was always a successful venture.
Imagine their excitement knowing that within a year or so, they can host a meet without making a 4 hour round trip, plus imagine a meet that attracts close to 400 swimmers from around Ontario, now descending on Owen Sound and the local economy
Coach Ryan Hood also states the Aquatic Club won’t be limited to hosting one meet, they’ll also have a sequence of club invitational’s.
Then factor in the potential of high school, maybe elementary school, swim meets and the Owen Sound Otters, who have one of the most vibrant Special Olympic Swim programs in the province, and you can understand the pools at the new Rec Complex will be busy and beneficial for years to come.
