Are you really ready to play the London Knights in the OHL Playoffs ?
I ask this, not because I want to discuss a way to beat a sturdy Michael Houser in London’s goal, or find a way to exhaust towering defender Jared Tinordi, or shake their checking line fronted by their spirited captain Stephen Sanza.
I ask ‘ are you ready ‘ in light of what promises to be a lengthy series, littered with never-ending sideshows.
Think not ?
Historically, London has beaten Owen Sound every time they’ve met in the playoffs, ( 4 & 0 ), and in every case there’s been one, or many, fiascos skating hand in hand with the series.
Like the time the London Free Press quoted Aaron Nagy out of context.
Or the time Geordie Maynard kicked Fred Braithwaite in the head.
Or the time ” A ” Channel prompted the ” Cryin’ Bobby Ryan campaign “.
Or the time more security was needed to protect Akim Aliu from the verbal abuse he was enduring at the Bayshore ?
What about the threatened firing of the London Rogers Broadcast team, because they weren’t homers, like Gary Hahn and Manny Paiva in Owen Sound ?
And who can forget the ” manhandling ” of David Bolland causing him to boot Mike Angelidis in the sack ?
Think this will be different ?
It’s started already.
Joey Hishon is a ” diver “.
And the hoodlum fans in bad-ass section of Owen Sound vandalized the Knights bus.
So I’ll ask again, are you really ready to play the London Knights ?
I’m Fred Wallace
