The High School Hockey scene is buzzing with events these days.
In Guelph today, the CWOSSA ” A & AA ” Boys & Girls Hockey Championships begin.
In Girls play, the Kincardine Lady Knights are among the teams in the field
The Bluewater Champion Sacred Heart Crusaders are representing Bluewater in the Boys Division along with the Kincardine District Knights who advanced by winning a qualifier over the Georgian Bay Vikings of Meaford.
The Crusaders won the Bluewater Boys title last week, dropping the West Hill Raiders 6-2 in the Championship Game at Walkerton
Sacred Heart has been to this spot before, and believe they’re capable of advancing to the OFSAA Championship.
The West Hill Lady Raiders failed in their attempt to advance to the CWOSSA ” AAA-AAAA ” playdown as they were eliminated in a qualifier by Centre Wellington 5-4 last week at the Coliseum.
However, the Lady Raiders have an historical matchup tomorrow afternoon when they face their cross city rivals, the OSCVI Falcons in the annual Crone Cup at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore.
Tomorrow’s game is the 9th annual Crone Cup, named for former OSCVI student Jason Crone who now represents Canada internationally in Wheelchair Rugby.
And while the game is a fundraiser and doesn’t have a playoff designation attached to it, make no mistake neither the Lady Raiders nor the OSCVI Falcons want to drop the game tomorrow
Crone Cup faceoff time Wednesday is set for 1 pm
