A couple of high school sports notes as we inch our way towards both March Break and some significant CWOSSA and OFSAA events later this month.
From a competitive standpoint, the Bluewater Boys Hockey Championship is this afternoon at Walkerton.
The West Hill Raiders, a relatively new entry in the sport, will face the Sacred Heart Crusaders who have been a perennial contender and multiple champion in latter years.
Meanwhile at the Owen Sound Coliseum this afternoon, there’s a CWOSSA Girls Hockey Qualifier for the West Hill Lady Raiders scheduled.
The winner today advances to the CWOSSA ” AAA-AAAA ” tournament at Cambridge next week.
Also with Girls Hockey, the details have been released for the 9th annual Crone Cup.
The Crone Cup, which is named for former OSCVI student and National Wheelchair rugby player Jason Crone, will be staged next Wednesday at 1 pm at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center in Owen Sound.
The Lady Falcons will face their cross city rivals, the West Hill Raiders in the annual Crone Cup matchup with proceeds going to ” Shoot for a Cure “.
Of note, the game participants will be at the Attack game Saturday as part of the fundraising initiative.
And one other high school note, the Bluewater Boys basketball All Stars games go tomorrow at Walkerton District starting at 6 pm with the Junior Game followed by the Senior All Stars at 8.
